Forms
Starting January 27, 2025 all new applications in the Downtown Community Plan Area will be subject to the New Zoning Code and must use revised forms (where applicable). These forms are now available at the Department of City Planning's Forms page.
Forms are required for applications that request certain entitlements or administrative clearances. Consult City Planning's Staff Directory or contact one of the Development Services Centers (DSCs) for assistance.
Please note that our forms are frequently updated to accommodate changes in state and local laws. Make sure that you are using the most current version, as City Planning will not accept any forms that have been superseded by more than one month.
Beginning January 27, 2025 the New Zoning Code (or Chapter 1A of the Los Angeles Municipal Code) will become operative in the Downtown Community Plan Area. For more information on a property’s Plan Area and zoning, visit zimas.lacity.org.
Prior to the Operative Date, all applications, regardless of location, are required to use the forms listed under the “Chapter 1” column. If an application is filed and paid before January 27, it may be eligible for “successional rights” to continue to use the zoning that was in effect at the time of application. For more information review Sec. 1.4.4. (Successional Rights) of Chapter 1A or contact your assigned planner.
On or after the Operative Date, applications in locations not subject to the New Zoning Code will continue to use the forms listed under Chapter 1. Applications that are subject to the New Zoning Code filed after this date will be required to use the revised forms under the Chapter 1A column. The new application forms will not be accepted until the Operative Date, but they are available online to allow applicants to begin preparing their materials in advance and allow additional time for pre-filing questions and consultation.
