Commissioner Kanner has written professionally for three Los Angeles newspapers, worked as a planning deputy for a Los Angeles City Councilmember, and authored several books on Los Angeles architecture. She has worked as a docent at Hollyhock House at Barnsdall Art Park and helped to establish the History Committee of the Los Feliz Improvement Association. Ms. Kanner has also served on the boards of the Friends of the Los Feliz Branch Library, the Los Angeles City Historical Society, and First Congregational Church of Los Angeles.
