Commissioner Ethel Rubio Member Cultural Heritage Commission

Commissioner Rubio is the principal consultant of Ethel G. Rubio, Assoc. AIA specializing in project and construction management; and strategic outreach and development since 2017. As a certified ENVISION Sustainability Professional and global ENVISION Trainer with the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure, she advocates and teaches the importance of cultural preservation in communities as it relates to infrastructure projects.

Ms. Rubio was a mayoral appointee to the Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ) Adams-Normandie District Board in 2019 and was reappointed by Mayor Karen Bass in 2023. Prior to her appointment to CHC, she served as the HPOZ Adams Normandie Board Chair since 2021. She also serves on the Los Angeles Metro Sustainability Council, and the Transportation Business Advisory Council (TBAC). Commissioner Rubio emigrated from the Philippines to the U.S. in 1986. received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Southern California. She is certified as a WELL AP and OSHA 30.
