Giovanni Zuniga is the Public Policy Manager for Pathways LA, a nonprofit and Resource and Referral agency in downtown Los Angeles, where he advocates for policy and systems changes that improve access to quality, affordable early learning settings for children across California. He works closely with decision makers to advance equity-driven policies, and helps develop family engagement programs that amplify the voices of those most impacted by systemic inequailty. Prior to his time as Public Policy Manager, he worked as Field Representative for Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson, of California’s 64th Assembly District. He served as the chief administrator for homelessness, housing, water safety, and healthcare matters. Commissioner Zuniga graduated from California State University, Northridge, with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2016, and the University of Southern California with a Master’s degree in International Public Policy and Management in 2017.
During his graduate studies he reported on the central causes of the increase in Latino homelessness rates in Los Angeles County to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA). Additionally, he interned for Senate Majority Leader Senator Robert M. Hertzberg of California’s 18th Senate District, and in the United States Capitol for U.S. Congressman Earl Blumenauer of Oregon’s Third Congressional District.
